I wish we had Susan helping us two months ago. So, just wanted
to say thanks. We think you are what the three of us needed
to really communicate.

My wife and I are very pleased that we decided to use Susan
as Zeus's trainer. The personalized attention and detailed
explanations about dog behavior were a tremendous help in
teaching us how to train our little dog. Zeus adored her and
was eager to learn from the very start . We had very little
experience with dogs, but she brought us right up to speed,
teaching us vital things about how dogs think and learn. Zeus
turned out to be an absolute prince, and hasn't given us a
bad day yet. I recommend this sort of training, and particularly
Susan, to anyone with a new dog.

My problem is named Gracie! I wanted to volunteer in hospitals,
allowing my fuzzy friend to share her love with people who
could use a lift. Walking Gracie, my Shepherd-Husky cross,
(without her prong collar), was truly like "holding a
moonbeam in your hand!" She loves to tug!
I contacted Susan Reaber of Companion Dog Training. Susan
provided several individual lessons at our home. She introduced
us to Positive Companion Dog Training. Susan is very focused
and really cues in to the subtle energies that make up the
relationship I have with my dogs. She taught me to be in charge
through kindness and consistency.
I had to totally rethink the way I related to Gracie. She
had to learn to want to offer the behaviors I requested. Working
with rewards and positive reinforcement of correct behaviors,
we have learned to walk with a Gentle Leader without pulling.
We passed our testing which qualifies us to work with the
Delta Society's Pet Partners Program!
I was easily able to transfer this training philosophy and
experience to work with my other two dogs. Izzy will also
be joining us in our volunteer work.
The training is a continual process of practice and evolving
understanding of the relationships between my dogs and I,
and even between the dogs themselves. We are a much healthier
pack for our work with Susan and the Companion Dog Training
she shares!

I was realizing yesterday how much Ozzie has changed since
our first session with you. Although he still tries to boss
me around sometimes, it's much more rare. He doesn't use his
teeth on my hands like he used to, and it's been a long time
since he jumped at my nose! I will still need to work with
him on his manners around other people, but this is improving
very gradually also. Thanks so much for all of your help.

When we adopted Tika, the older dog, Kota (a rather territorial
Australian Shepherd) had a hard time accepting her. Susan
worked with the puppy, our older dog and with us, and we ended
up with a loving, playful pair of dogs.
Susan's training method of love and treats, educating the
owner as well as the dog, works wonders. Her command for keeping
a puppy from randomly picking up "illegal" things
off the floors, counters and sidewalks is reason enough for
working with her. It's magic.
